Accessibility statement
People come here in difficult circumstances. The site should be easy to use on a bad day, on an old phone, and with assistive technology.

Our commitment
We aim to meet the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.2 at Level AA where practical, and we treat accessibility as part of the content, not as an extra.
What is in place now
- A keyboard-accessible navigation and a visible “skip to main content” link.
- Visible focus indicators on links, buttons, and form fields.
- Headings in a logical order, with one main heading per page.
- Descriptive alt text on meaningful images, and empty alt text on decorative ones.
- Form fields with permanent labels rather than placeholder text alone.
- Text contrast built to meet or exceed AA against the backgrounds used.
- Buttons and interactive controls sized to be usable on touch screens.
- Link text that describes its destination.
- Support for reduced motion: animations and smooth scrolling are disabled when your system asks for it.
- Layouts that reflow to a single column on small screens without sideways scrolling.
Plain language
We write in short sentences and avoid clinical jargon, because readability is an accessibility issue too. Where a technical term is necessary, we explain it in the sentence that follows.
Known limitations
- Some third-party websites we link to may not meet the same accessibility standards, and we cannot control how they are built.
- Generated photographs are described for meaning. If a description does not tell you what you need to know, please tell us and we will improve it.
- We have not yet completed testing with every screen reader and browser combination, and we would rather say so than claim full conformance.
Tell us about a barrier
If something on this site is hard to use or impossible to use with your device or assistive technology, please tell us through the contact form and choose “Website Feedback”. Describe what you were trying to do and what happened. We will treat it as a defect rather than a preference.
Accessible alternatives
Every important phone number and resource in this site is also available as plain text, so nothing essential depends on an image, a color, or a script. If you need information from this site in another format, ask us and we will do what we can.
