Privacy policy

We collect as little as possible, and we do not sell it.

What we collect

  • Contact form details. Your email address, the category you choose, your optional name, the page you wrote from, and your message. We use these only to reply and to improve the directory.
  • Basic technical information. Our hosting and security systems record ordinary request data such as the page requested and general technical details needed to serve the site and stop abuse.

We do not ask for and do not want medical histories, diagnoses, substance use histories, insurance identification numbers, or other sensitive health information. Please do not send them to us.

What we do not do

  • We do not sell your personal information.
  • We do not sell or share information about what you search for or read on this site.
  • We do not send information about your suspected substance use, treatment interests, or health circumstances to advertising platforms.
  • We do not build advertising profiles of visitors.

Cookies and analytics

This site uses the minimum necessary to work and to keep you signed in if you are an administrator. If we add analytics, we will configure it to avoid transmitting health-related or substance-use-related details about you, and we will describe it here.

Third-party links

Our directory links to other organizations and government services. Once you follow a link, that organization controls its own website, and its privacy practices apply rather than ours. We choose links to official sources where they exist, and we recommend reading their privacy notice before sharing personal details with them.

Contact form and security

Contact submissions are stored for the editorial team to review and are protected by an automated spam check. We limit what the form asks for so that the amount of information we hold stays small. Please do not use the form for emergencies; it is not monitored continuously and is never a way to get immediate medical help.

Access to submissions

Only administrators of this site can read contact submissions. Access is restricted by the platform’s permission system, and submissions are not shared with outside parties.

Children

This site is written for adults and for young people seeking help. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children through the contact form. If you believe a child has sent us information, contact us and we will delete it.

Your choices

You can ask us what we hold about you, ask us to correct it, or ask us to delete it by writing through the contact form. We will respond to reasonable requests.

Changes

If this policy changes, we will update the date at the top of this page. Material changes will be described plainly rather than buried.

One important limitation

Addict Outreach is an informational website. We are not a medical provider, a treatment facility, or a health plan, and we do not claim compliance with health privacy regulations that would apply to those organizations. You should not send protected health information through this site.

You can stop reading and talk to someone instead

Call the free matching line, ask us to call you back, or search treatment programs yourself. All three take a minute and cost nothing.

Calls are answered by Find Your Recovery, our free treatment matching partner. This is not a crisis line: call 911 for a medical emergency, or call or text 988 for crisis support.
